New Boilers
Co-funded by the City of Zagreb
As part of the JAZZURANIA concert series, Urania welcomes New Boilers, whose performance will bring this year’s programme dedicated to the contemporary Croatian jazz scene to a close.
The third and final concert features an ensemble that continues the musical legacy of the legendary Boilers Quartet, one of the notable groups on the Croatian jazz scene of the 1990s.
As successors to the cult Boilers Quartet, originally comprising Krunoslav Levačić, Davor Križić, Matija Dedić and Goran Baraković, New Boilers bring an energetic and contemporary sound. The founding members of the original group, Krunoslav Levačić on drums and Davor Križić on trumpet, now perform alongside Hrvoje Galler on piano and Zvonimir Šestak on double bass, combining interpretations of jazz standards with original compositions.
Throughout 2026, the JAZZURANIA series has presented three ensembles — B’s FUNstallation, Vojkan Jocić Quartet and New Boilers — introducing audiences to a range of original approaches and musical expressions within the contemporary Croatian jazz scene.
JAZZURANIA is a Urania concert series dedicated to the contemporary Croatian jazz scene, launched in collaboration with Wendy Zečić and Branko Kostelnik.
Through diverse musical approaches and individual artistic expressions, the series offers audiences the opportunity to discover new sounds and musical experiences, while providing musicians with a space for encounters, connections and the development of new collaborations.
With the performance by New Boilers, we bring this year’s edition of JAZZURANIA to a close, having presented the creativity and diversity of the contemporary Croatian jazz scene through three distinctive concert experiences.
