Urikač is a musical ensemble that doesn’t aim to repeat learned patterns but to create a space where music is in constant flux. Gathered around composer and guitarist Vid Haber, the members of the band shape a sound that resists simple categorization. Their approach combines the precision of composition with the unpredictability of improvisation, turning performance into an exploration of the relationship between structure and spontaneity, the individual and the ensemble, authorship and collectivity.
At the core of the group lies Haber’s vision of music as a living organism - an open system that evolves through mutual listening and reaction. In that sense, Urikač is not just a band but a community in which individual authorship transforms into a shared experience. Alongside Vid Haber, the ensemble includes saxophonist Marin Živković, accordionist and vocalist Una Patafta, and Pavao Lovrić, who contributes to the production and conceptual aspects of the project.
The sound of Urikač is both layered and accessible - echoing elements of jazz, indie rock, folk, and electronic music, yet never fully belonging to any single genre. This blend creates a musical landscape that is elusive yet recognizable: melodically rounded, rhythmically vibrant, and texturally rich. Urikač builds an atmosphere in which the listener oscillates between analytical and emotional experience, between the abstract and the intimate.
The concert at Urania - space of creation marks the release of their first full-length album, “Zraka siječe prašinu” (A Ray Cuts Through Dust), conceived as a diptych:
Side A – Kostobrani, Tvoji cvjetovi, Tuča, Smeđa pjesma, Točka pregiba
Side B – Plava pjesma, Ni o čemu, Čempres
The album’s title evokes the meeting of the material and immaterial, of light and matter, of movement and stillness - precisely the territory Urikač explores through sound. Each composition bears traces of dialogue between different sensibilities, as well as between natural and urban acoustic landscapes.
